Ping Chinese Restaurant and Dessert Bay in Bangalore

From Kumaraswamy

Mouthwatering food at P!NG.

Ping Restaurant and Dessert Bay/Shamshad Khan
The Bottom Line
Ping is a refreshing change to the Chinese eat-out options in Bangalore. It is authentic and offers a genre of cuisine, Dim Sum, which is much closer to Chinese eating traditions. It's right up there with Bangalore's best restaurants. A must try.

Guide Review - Ping Chinese Restaurant and Dessert Bay in Bangalore

I got to know of P!ng during one of my in-flight readings within India. I went there out of interest since I have always rated Dim Sum eating as a very unique experience.

Bangalore does have some Dim Sum restaurants like in the Leela, but nothing stands out as such. This is where P!ng comes in. I feel that their food is definitely on par with some of the best in Singapore and Shanghai. And frankly, it is high time that Bangalore got one of this kind. There's a lot of "Indianization" of Chinese cuisine, which invariably is bad for the palate.

P!ng is located conveniently in Koramangala, which is not too near or far from most places of interest in Bangalore. So, getting there is thankfully not much of a pain.

Some must-tries on their menu are the Bubble Ice Tea (quite refreshing and fun to drink), The Dim Sum Platters (a huge variety of all types of Dim Sum, and well priced), some of the sea-food based stir fries like the Tamarind Fish, and almost any of the desserts are pretty nice.

Interestingly, they have an outdoor Dessert Bay. While it's not Chinese and while the desserts are not indigenous, what they offer is more varied than what any stand-alone restaurant offers in Bangalore.
