Maharaja's Express
The Maharaja's Express, which commenced operations in March 2010, is the newest and most costly luxury train in India. It's also the first luxury train in India to journey across the whole country. You'll travel through the night to different locations, and have the day to explore them.

Maharaja's Express Features:

The Maharaja's Express has a total of 23 coaches, with four distinct configurations. There are five deluxe carriages, six junior suite carriages, two suite carriages, and one presidential suite exclusively in one carriage. The train also has two fine dining restaurants, one bar, and an observation lounge with its own bar, game tables and comfortable club.

Other unique aspects of the train include a state of the art suspension system for a smooth ride, climate control in the passenger cabins, environment friendly toilet system, and direct dial telephones from each cabin.

The following tours are offered:

The Princely India Tour:

This seven-night tour departs from Mumbai and travels north through Rajasthan to finish in Delhi. It visits Vadodara, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park, and Agra/Taj Mahal.

The tour runs from October to April each year, with one to two departures per month.

The Royal India Tour:

This tour operates along the same route as the Princely India Tour, but in the reverse (departing from Delhi and finishing in Mumbai) with minor changes.

The Classical India Tour:

This tour runs for six nights, departing from Delhi and finishing on the eastern coast on India, in Kolkata. It the route visits Agra, Gwalior, Khajuraho erotic temples, Bandavgarh National Park, Varanasi, and Gaya.

The tour has one departure per month from September to March each year.

The Celestial India Tour:

This tour operates along the same route as the Classical India Tour, but in the reverse (departing from Kolkata and finishing in Delhi) with minor changes.

Maharaja's Express Tour Costs:

The cost of the 7 night Princely India and Celestial India tours starts from $6,400 per person in a Deluxe Cabin, increasing to $20,000 per person in the Presidential Suite. The 6 night Royal India and Classical India tours cost $5,600 per person in a Deluxe Cabin, increasing to $17,500 per person in a Presidential Suite. The tariff includes cost of travel, accommodation, all meals, all house wines, beers and spirits, all sightseeing including entrance fees, guides and tour managers, and all entertainment. Children below five years of age are free, but a supplement must be paid for children aged between five and 12.
