Guide Review - Poly Esther's Nightclub Review: Reviving Retro in Mumbai

This place is based on the same concept as the Poly Esthers in New York City -- it even has the same name. Any notion of India being a conservative country is dispelled once you enter its doors and the night gets underway. Young girls wear the shortest of mini skirts, and guys line up at the bar to have flaming vodka and tequila shots poured down their throats.

Poly Esther's has been around for a few years but so far it's managing to last the distance. Inside, you'll find the club decorated with glitter balls, pictures of 70s and 80s music idols, and barmen wearing afro wigs. It attracts a mixed crowd but is surprisingly predominated by college students, who're hardly old enough to appreciate the retro music that it pumps out. The music isn't however restricted to retro. Party people will also hear some of the latest hip hop and Bollywood tunes.

Poly Ester's is convincing with its take on retro, evidenced by the number of people that pack into it, particularly on Saturday nights. It can get quite crowded, so Saturday Night Fever dance moves may be out of the question!
