Top Luxury Hotels in Bangalore

By , About.com Guide

There's no shortage of luxury hotels in Bangalore, and they're amongst India's finest too. Most Bangalore luxury hotels have spacious grounds and marvelous architecture.  Here are the five of the best places to have a luxurious stay in Bangalore.

1. Taj West End

Taj West End
The Taj West End hotel is an evergreen favorite in Bangalore. Built in 1887, it was the city's first hotel. Since then, it's been expanded but still retains an old-world charm with meticulously preserved Gothic architecture. The hotel has an unbeatable location, occupying 20 acres of garden in the heart of the city. The Bangalore Turf Club and and Bangalore Golf Club are right next door. It's usually possible to get a double room at the hotel for less than $300 per night.

2. ITC Windsor

ITC Windsor
Another popular choice, which is like a second home for some people, is the ITC Windsor. This luxury hotel has plenty of Colonial character. Its location isn't the most convenient though. Situated in a secure diplomatic pocket, the ITC Windsor is around 15 minutes away from the downtown area. Metered taxis are hard to come by outside the hotel, and require a substantial wait if called by the hotel. However, the attractive thing about this hotel is that it's not as costly as other five star hotels in Bangalore. Also, don't miss dining at the hotel's standout Jolly Nabobs restaurant. Expect to pay around $250 per night for a double room, including tax. Note that rooms are on the smaller side.

ITC Royal Gardenia

Located near Cubbon Park, the ITC Royal Gardenia is the newest hotel in Bangalore, and it's easily the swankiest that the city has to offer. Where else can you find a hotel with a helipad, and India's largest suite with its own swimming pool! You can even transfer to the hotel from the new Bangalore airport by helicopter. The hotel's environmentally friendly practices are commendable as well. Another plus: the ITC Royal Gardenia has a large Kaya Kalp spa, which maintains the standards of the original one at the ITC Mughal in Agra. The published rates start from $500 per night for a double, but significant discounts are available and you should be able to pick up a room for around $350 per night.

5. Leela Palace

Leonardo Media

As its name suggests, the Leela Palace has been built to give the feeling of staying in a palace. The hotel's architecture is spectacular, with inspiration drawn from the Royal Palace of Mysore and the palaces of Vijayanagar Empire. Set on nine acres of landscaped grounds, it's like an oasis in Bangalore. However, the big drawback of this hotel is the location. It's not at all central. What's not to be overlooked though, is that the Leela Palace is home to the opulent and world renowned Jamavar restaurant. Expect to pay around $300 per night, for a double room including tax.
