Ganesh Statue #1

By , About.com Guide

Sharell Cook
This regal Ganesh statue is flagged by two smaller silver lion statues, which are the emblem of India. They're replicas of the Lion of Sarnath, near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, which was erected in the third century BC by Emperor Ashoka to mark the spot where the Buddha first taught. The lion symbolizes India's commitment to world peace and goodwill.
