The President raises the National flag as the National Anthem is played, and a 21-gun salute is given. The Parade is led by the three divisions of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) who showcase their strength. This includes a dramatic airshow as the parade grand finale. Each Indian state is represented by a different float that highlights an aspect of its culture.
Special Feature of 2013 Republic Day Parade:
A float depicting Indian cinema will appear in the parade for the first time this year, in celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema. Silver and shaped like a mythological bird-boat called Mayur Pankhi, it has the names of various movies (both regional and Hindi) engraved on it. Junior artistes, dressed as iconic characters from Bollywood movies, will wave from the float.
