Shangri-la Hotel, Mumbai.
After much ado, including a lengthy delay of nearly three years caused by contractor problems and issues obtaining environmental clearance, the luxury Shangri-la hotel has finally opened in Mumbai. However, it's only a "soft launch" of the hotel.
For now, apparently just three of the hotel's 38 floors are operational. This includes 80 rooms, Seven restaurant (world cuisine), and the Lobby Lounge. When it's completed, the hotel will have 390 rooms and 31 suites, and 28 fully serviced apartments.
The Shangri-la is located above the posh Palladium shopping mall at High Street Phoenix in Lower Parel, in central south Mumbai. This area is around half way between the airport and Colaba. The biggest attractions there are designer brand shopping and the best live music in Mumbai, at Blue Frog. You'll also be able to enjoy eating and drinking at some groovy bars and restaurants.
If you're interested in staying at the hotel, do take a look at the opening offer starting from 11,500 rupees a night, valid until January 31, 2012.
