Jaipur Literature Festival
If you've been wondering what's in store at the 2013 Jaipur Literature Festival, the wait is at last over! The details were formally announced today (although the program of events is still to come) and they look very interesting.
The Festival, which is regarded as Asia's leading literature event, will showcase the diversity of Indian writing this year -- with more than 16 languages represented. In addition, according to Festival co-director and author William Dalrymple, "The international list at Jaipur this year is one of unprecedented depth and range, with our most cerebral and intellectually formidable group of writers yet. These include a galaxy of Booker, Pulitzer, Orange, Crossword and Samuel Johnson prize-winners and some of the most important thinkers and critics of our time."
There will be a series of intellectually stimulating discussions and debates, as well as readings, music, and workshops for attendees.
I'm also glad to note that the organizers have taken steps to reduce overcrowding at the Festival. The music stage will be moved to another location, and a new venue will be added within Diggi Palace to accommodate an additional 5,000 people per hour.
