Mumbai's most famous art gallery, the Jehangir Art Gallery, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this month with a string of special events over the next couple of weeks.
The festivities kicked off with the opening of the Gallery's renovated auditorium, followed by a fundraising art auction of 47 paintings by eminent artists. The auditorium hall is hosting an exhibition that will take people on a walk down memory lane, over the 60 years of the Gallery's existence.
However, the highlight will happen on October 27 -- a live concert by renowned tabla musician Ustad Zakir Hussain and other artists at the National Center for the Performing Arts. On October 28, the last day of the festival, there will be free workshops, discussions, and a fashion show at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (better known as the Prince of Wales Museum) grounds.
More information is available on the newly launched Jehangir Art Gallery website.
