It's time to say goodbye to beloved Lord Ganesh tomorrow as the 2012 Ganesh Chaturthi festival draws to a close, with the immersion of all remaining idols in oceans and lakes across India.
Ganesh Visarjan (immersion) day is a massive and lengthy affair in Mumbai, and it extends right through the night. Tens of thousands of idols will be put onto the back of trucks and make their way slowly through the streets, followed by processions of DJs, bands, and dancing devotees. I'm going to brave the noise and crowds this year, and go on a personalized tour of it with Pranav of Grand Mumbai tours.
Find out more about where to experience the massive send-off of Lord Ganesh in this Mumbai Ganesh Visarjan Guide.
