With only three weeks remaining until Durga Puja in Kolkata, artisans are working diligently to complete the handcrafting of thousands of beautiful idols of Goddess Durga for the festival.
The work takes place in an area of north Kolkata called Kumartuli. It's really worth going on a trip there to see how the idols of the Goddess are created. Her eyes are drawn on around a week before the start of the festival, on the occasion of Mahalaya, when she's invited to the earth.
