An important activity that takes place during the Ganesh festival in India is the aarti. This consists of waving a holy flame in front of the idol of Lord Ganesh and singing bhajans (devotional songs) in praise of him. Morning and evening aartis are usually held.
I've uploaded a short video of last night's evening aarti at my apartment building to Facebook and Google+ for those of you who'd like to experience it.
