The state-run Maharastra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has around 70 reasonably priced hotels in some of the most sought after destinations in Maharastra. Recently, it opened its online accommodation booking facility up for the forthcoming tourist season, from October 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.
The online booking facility is usually available during the low season, and it looks like the MTDC's move to extend it is proving to be a wise one. According to this media release, bookings worth 47.5 lakh rupees were received on the first day.
If you're planning on heading to popular places such as Mahableshwar, Ganpatiphule, and Tarkarli do book early! Accommodations at these places fill up fast during peak times. The hotels in some locations could do with upgrading though, so make sure you read the reviews on websites such as Tripadvisor before booking to avoid disappointment.
