Panj Takht Darshan.
If you're part of the Sikh community and want to do something special to bring in the New Year, you may want to consider booking a trip on Indian Railways' newest tourist train. Called the Panj Takht Darshan train, as its name suggests, it takes passengers on a pilgrimage to visit the five gurudwaras of special significance to Sikhs.
The tour, which runs for six nights from Delhi or four nights from Amritsar, aims to provide a hassle-free pilgrimage within the shortest time. Hence, it also includes a flight component from Delhi to Takht Sri Patna Sahib in Patna and onwards to Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded.
The highlight of the trip is spending New Year's Eve in Amritsar, home of the Golden Temple.
