Maharajas' Express.
The newest of the luxury trains in India, the Maharajas' Express started operating in 2010 as a joint venture between Cox and Kings India and the Indian Railways Catering Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Unfortunately, it encountered problems and the joint venture was subsequently terminated.
Now, the IRCTC has decided to run the train by itself and it's been relaunched with new routes. The first tour -- the seven night Indian Splendor through Rajasthan -- will depart from Delhi on September 29, 2012.
However, what's notable is the addition of shorter three night tours, which are perfect for those who don't have a lot of time to spare. These tours visit India's renowned Golden Triangle.
The Maharajas' Express also offers a seven night tour to popular places in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
