If you're going to be in Jaipur over the forthcoming few days, you're in luck! You'll be able to catch the Teej Festival celebrations there.
For women, this means dressing up, getting mehendi (henna) applied to their hands, singing songs, and having fun swinging on swings. Jaipur also hosts a spectacular royal procession through the streets of the Old City, as well as a food and handicraft fair.
This year, the procession will get underway on July 22, at 5.30 p.m., from Tripolia Gate. It will wind its way through Tripolia Bazaar and Chhoti Chaupar, Gangauri Bazaar, and end at Chaugan Stadium. The procession will also be held the next day, at the same time and place. Tourists can photograph it from the terrace of the Hind Hotel, opposite Tripolia Gate.
The Teej Festival is celebrated all over Rajasthan, but most grandly in Jaipur. Find out more about the Teej Festival, and its meaning and rituals.
