There's no doubting that some destinations in India are more expensive than others (take Mumbai for example). But which ones are the cheapest for budget travelers?
Tripadvisor.in has compiled a TripIndex that compares the cost of staying in 11 popular destinations across India. Included is a night's accommodation at a three-star hotel, taxi journey, food and beer.
Jaipur tops the list as the cheapest place with a total cost of just under 4,000 rupees, followed closely by Agra at 4,500 rupees. The room rate in Jaipur was particularly low -- just over 2,000 rupees per night. This contrasts to around 5,500 rupees per night in other capital cities.
