Many years ago I did a 10 day silent Vipassana meditation course back home in Australia. It had quite a profound impact on my thought process, particularly my ability to remain detached and not be affected by the transient nature of emotions. Many students have intense experiences, especially if underlying emotional issues are present.

The interesting thing is that most people go into the course thinking that not speaking for 10 days is going to be the hardest challenge. In fact, it's usually the farthest thing from student's minds.

Vipassana meditation is one of India's oldest meditation techniques, founded more than 2,500 years ago. These days, it's become popular all over the world as a result of the teachings of the distinctive voiced S.N.Goenka. Vipassana meditation centers headed by S.N.Goenka can be found in every corner of India. Due to their locations and what they offer, some centers are more popular than others though.

If you're looking to study Vipassana meditation you may want to go to one of these Top 5 Vipassana Meditation Centers in India. (By the way, it's free!).
