Monsoon Rain Fills Pushkar Lake At Last

Thanks to the generous amount of rainfall this monsoon season in India, Pushkar Lake is now full again. In fact, the water has reached its highest level in two decades.

Unfortunately, the lake had remained a dry bed for the past two years as poor rainfall kept it empty. This posed a huge problem for the pilgrims who came to bathe in its holy waters, especially during the auspicious time of the Pushkar Camel Fair. They had to be content with bathtub sized pools in parts of the lake, filled with water daily basis.

Now that the lake is full again, pilgrims are flocking from all over Rajasthan to bathe and perform their puja (prayers).  With the 2010 Pushkar Camel Fair less than two months away as well, it looks promising for a bumper tourist season!
