Here's some good news for devotees planning a pilgrimage to Shirdi to visit the temple of Sai Baba, Maharashtra's most popular and famous saint. It's now possible to take a direct train from Mumbai to Shirdi.
The train, called the Sainagar-Shirdi-Dadar train, is a superfast service that runs three times a week. It departs Dadar (central Mumbai) at 9.45 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and arrives in Sainagar Shirdi at 3.55 a.m. the following morning. Coming back, the train departs Sainagar Shirdi at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and arrives at Dadar at 4.05 p.m. the same day.
En route, the train stops at Thane, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, Manmad and Kopargaon.
