Check In Early for All Domestic Flights at Major Indian Airports

By August 3, 2010

Follow me on:

Recently, I wrote about the new procedures to reduce departure delays at Mumbai airport.  These procedures have caused airlines to start closing their check-in counters early, not just at Mumbai airport but at all major airports across India.

Domestic passengers now need to check-in at least 40 minutes before their flight departs, and board the aircraft at least 25 minutes before departure.

Jet Airways had initially resisted the move, and had continued to allow passengers to check in 30 minutes before departure. However, many of its flights were severely delayed as a result. Now, the airline has  announced that all of its check-in counters will close 45 minutes before departure at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai airports.

So, no more last minute dashes to the airport! Do make sure you arrive early, with plenty of time to spare. Otherwise, you will miss your flight.  Airlines are being very strict about this.
