Do you have a particular spiritual teacher that you follow? Or is there anyone in particular who has taught you important lessons in life? Today is the day to acknowledge and give thanks to him or her. It's Guru Purnima (Guru Full Moon) in India.
Guru Purnima is officially celebrated in remembrance of the ancient sage Vyasa, who edited and wrote a number of holy Hindu scriptures. Celebrations take place all over India, but particularly at spiritual centers such as Rishikesh. One of the largest Guru Purnima festivals is held at Goverdhan, near Mathura.
Even if you don't follow a spiritual guru, you can still celebrate Guru Purnima in your own way. If you wish, simply spend some time reviewing all the knowledge you've acquired in the last year and the way it's transformed you. You may be surprised with the outcome because everybody is a teacher to at least somebody, even without necessarily intending to be!
