Germany's Oktoberfest is the largest fair in the world, and is indeed renowned all over the world for its beer, sausage, and song. The festival is on at the moment from September 19 to October 4.
If you're a beer fan, or simply interested in German culture, you'll be happy to know that Oktoberfest is also celebrated in Mumbai. Of course, it's on a much smaller scale than the real thing in Germany, but you'll still get to taste some tempting gourmet beers and food.
Where to get into the spirit of Oktoberfest in Mumbai?
- The Opium Den at the Trident Hotel in Nariman Point, south Mumbai, is offering an unlimited supply of select beers for 650 rupees per person. Festivities are on daily from 12.30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- The ITC Grand Central in Lower Parel, central Mumbai, is enticing diners with lavish Sunday brunches on September 27 and October 4, in its Millsquare courtyard. On offer are international beers served by traditionally dressed hostesses, German food specialties, music, games, and beer guzzling contests!
- Peshwa Pavilion, located at the ITC Grand Maratha near Mumbai Airport, is also offering delicious Oktoberfest Sunday brunch buffets and Saturday dinners during the duration of the festival. Cost is 1,600 rupees for dinner and 1,750 rupees for brunch per person, including taxes.
Prost! (Cheers in German).
