The best way to appreciate the monsoon season in India is to embrace it and have fun. That's exactly what will be happening in the Wayanad district of Kerala during the first two weeks of July. A mega monsoon carnival, called Splash 2009, has been organized to take place from July 3-11, 2009, at Chandragiri Auditorium in Kalpetta.

The program of activities is extensive, and encompasses both indoor and outdoor events. These include cultural performances, singing, music, dance, magic, rafting, rock climbing, trekking, crab catching, mud football, and archery. There will also be a food court at the venue, and 40 stalls selling local handicrafts and spices.

The carnival is a unique opportunity to enjoy the monsoon, as well as experience the lush green beauty of Wayanad at this time of year.

Need further encouragement to take part? There are some very enticing accommodation packages on offer too. Make sure you get in early! More information is available from the Splash 2009 website.
