Great news for nature lovers -- the forest department has introduced a number of new jungle trails at Sanjay Gandhi National Park (also known as Borivali National Park), which allow visitors to see the more unexplored parts of the park.
The trails include the Shiloda Trail (around four kilometers), the Malad Trail (five kilometers), and the longer Yeoor Trail (six kilometers). The cost is 25 rupees per person. More information can be obtained from the Nature Information Office at the park's Borivali entrance. Phone: (22) 2886-6449.
I love Sanjay Gandhi National Park because it's such a wonderful refuge from the onslaught of Mumbai. It's really unusual to find a park of its size in such a huge city. As well as take a hike along the nature trails, you can go on a long walk up to the ancient Kanheri Caves inside the park, which are definitely worth seeing.
