Have you ever seen a camel dance? Or did you even know that camels could dance? Up until recently, the thought had never crossed my mind. However, India being India, is full of weird and wonderful things. Of course, dancing camels happens to be one of them! In fact, it's a highlight of the upcoming annual Bikaner Camel Festival, which will be taking place in Bikaner on January 10 and 11, 2009.

I have to admit, my curiosity got the better of me and I did a Google search for dancing camels. From this, I also learned that the Indian Border Security Force has a camel band which features dancing camels as part of the entertainment. Amongst other events, the band performs at India's Republic Day celebrations.

The dancing is obviously taken quite seriously, as the camels undergo year-long training in moving and grooving. The dancing itself consists of a lot of strutting, foot stamping, and neck swaying!
