As well as being a popular Mumbai attraction, the huge open air laundry -- known as the dhobi ghat -- next to Mahalaxmi railway station, is now also the subject of a new Bollywood movie.
The movie is being produced by Kiran Rao, wife of highly regarded Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, and is being made in the style of a documentary-drama.
Filming has just started on location at the dhobi ghat, so it's likely that you'll be able to catch some of the action there. However, the dhobi ghat is a fascinating place and well worth a visit regardless of its new found fame!
