Anyone who's looking to buy Indian art or handicrafts, and is currently in Mumbai or is planning to visit in the next few weeks, should try and make it to the Hindustan Art and Craft Expo 2008.

This huge exhibition and sale is having its grand opening today at the Bandra Reclamation Ground, in western Mumbai. It will be open daily from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. The easiest way to get there from the city center is to take a taxi, which shouldn't cost more than 250 rupees ($6).

These exhibitions have hundreds of stalls, and are excellent places to get art and handicrafts from all over India at cheap prices. I went to one earlier this year and bought some beautiful embroidered cushion covers for only 150 rupees ($3.50) each.
