Indian Railways to Introduce Train Hostesses

Thursday August 28, 2008

Indian Railways is becoming quite innovative these days. Its latest idea is to offer passengers all the comforts of an airplane, including hostesses, choice of food, music, and most importantly attractive and clean bathrooms. The services, to be provided in special 2 tiered air conditioned carriages, are to be introduced on a pilot program basis.

Anyone who wants to try out the new services can do so from September 26, when they'll be offered on two trains -- the Kanchan Kanya Express and North Bengal Express, which leave from Kolkata and travel to New Jalpaguri near Darjeeling. A ticket will cost 1495 rupees ($35).

One can only hope that these services will be introduced on trains throughout the India, especially the popular inter-city Rajdhani trains. It would make train travel so much more appealing.
