New Runway Opened at Delhi Airport

The much anticipated new runway opened at Delhi International Airport yesterday. It's hoped that the runway will ease a lot of the congestion problems and delays at the airport.

In true Indian style, a stray dog managed to turn up on the runway just before the first aircraft was about to land. A flock of birds also had to be chased away!

Some questions have been raised about the reliability of the runway, the largest in India, as it's been built in an area that collects water during heavy rains. However, plans are apparently being put in place to ensure adequate drainage on the site.
