It's Raining Discounts at Mumbai Malls

It's been raining a lot in Mumbai this past week -- not only rain from above, but discounts in all the best stores as well! Retailers in Mumbai usually launch their end of season sales a month before the festival season begins in late August. However, this year shoppers have been surprised to find discounts being offered weeks in advance. Every day I look through the newspapers and see huge advertisements announcing up to 60% off. It seems like every store is having a sale at the moment!

The early start to the sales is aimed at offsetting the impact of India's problem of rising inflation. The strategy appears to be working as all shopping malls have reported increases in customers.
